Sesame Seed Cookies (Barazek)

Ingredients
- Dough
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sweet butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 Tablespoons warm water
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sesame seeds
- Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Methods/steps
- Sift flour and baking powder. Mix the sugar, butter and egg and add to the flour mixture. Mix with your fingers. Add water. The dough should be firm. Roll the dough on a work board sprinkled with sesame seeds.
- Crush with syrup and sprinkle with more sesame seeds.
- Cut into 2 1/2 inch rounds.
- Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350F for 8-10 minutes
