Hungarian Goulash
Hungarian Goulash Recipe. It is a little switch from my normal Italian cooking. Serve over cooked noodles.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. boneless beef, 1/2" cubes
- 4 slices bacon, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 2 Tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 Tablespoon paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon tabasco sauce
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 Tablespoon flour
- 1 Tablespoon water
Methods/steps
- In dutch oven , cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon. Set aside.
- Brown meat cubes well on all sides in the bacon fat. Add chopped onions and brown. Add seasonings. tomato paste and 2 cups of hot water. Stir ingredients.
- Simmer covered for about 1 1/2 hours, until meat is tender.
- Combine the flour and 1 Tablespoon of water and stir into the goulash. Bring to a boil, cook until thickened. Remove bay leaf.
- Stir in the saved bacon bits.
