Easy Sugar Cookies
This is the only sugar cookie recipe you will ever need. Makes perfect and delicious cookie cutter cookies.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 Tablespoon milk
- powdered sugar for rolling dough
Methods/steps
- Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
- Place butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat with electric mixer until well blended. Add egg and milk and beat to combine. On low speed, slowly add flour, mix until mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl.
- Divide dough in half, wrap in wax paper, refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Sprinkle clean counter with powdered sugar. Place 1/2 the dough on the powdered sugar. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick. Watch dough to make sure it is not sticking. Cut into desired shape. Place 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. Cook for 7 minutes or until cookies are just starting to turn brown around the edges. Rotate baking sheet 1/2 way through cooking.
- Let cookies cool on the pan for 2 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate with icing and sprinkles or eat plain.
